Actually looking for living descendants of John B. and Elizabeth (Lizzie) Atkinson in attempting to ascertain "Lizzie's" full name. They had two children, Charles (Dutch) and Bonnie Jean. Charles died Sept. 1, 1962, and was interred at the Littel Cemetery. Responsible party according to funeral home records for Charles was "Bertie" Atkinson. Assume she probably was his widow. Do you have a burial record for her? Presumably funeral records will reveal identity of a surviving child or other relative. |

Nicholas ERNWINE was in Erie Co,PA in 1875, but moved to Scott,Linn Co,KS by 1880 with his wife, Mary and two daughters Mary and Lena. Nicholas was born in France in 1840-41. His wife, Mary (nee: SCHUMACHER)was born in Baden,GMY in Feb.1844. They married abt. 1870. Their daughters were born in PA (Mary-abt.1870 and Lena-1875), prior to moving to KS.
By 1900, the wife-Mary and daughter-Lena moved back to Erie Co, PA, but the daughter-Mary had already died (unknown where/why so early) and Nicholas was not living with his wife in 1900 although she indicated that she was still married. By 1910, Mary was a widow. I don't know if Nicholas died in KS or elsewhere. Any additional info would be greatly appreciated!! |

Linn County Cemetery Records/Obituaries
ATKINSON
Grand-aunt "Lizzie" Atkinson, widow of John Atkinson, died Feb. 7, 1961, and presumably was buried at Prescott. I need to know her full name as indicated in the cemetery records. (Was she really Lizzie, or was she Elizabeth or something else?) If there is any access to obituaries, I need to know where in Missouri she was born.
Any assistance that can be provided would be very much appreciated.

In Lot 18, on page 496, with her parents:

This cemetery was transcribed in 1977 - 1978 by the Linn County Genealogical Society. The cemetery was adjacent to the Fairmount United Brethern Church. A yellow pages search did not turn up this church, so it may be closed.
The Kansas State Historical Society has newspaper microfilms available for interlibrary loan. Here is the link to their search page:

Leave the city blank, select a 1 year period around the time of the death you are interested in and the results page will list all papers published in the county during that time period. You will have to chose which ones you want to try and find. You will need the name of the paper, the years covered by the microfilm, and the microfilm number for your librarian to order the film. Also check out the interlibrary loan policies of the society. There is a link on the search page.
A yellow pages search for funeral homes shows only one active in Pleasanton, KS(the closest town). You may want to contact them to see if they know who has the church and cemetery records.

The Kansas State historical Society has newspapers from that time period microfilmed and available for interlibrary loan. This link will take you to their search page. Just enter the county name and the year you are interested in. You will find all the papers published in the county at that time. Then you will need to pick the ones in the cities where, or close to where, Nicolas lived. You will need the name of the paper, the publication dates for the microfilm of interest and the film number. Give the information to your librarian, who can order the films you are interested in. Don't forget to check out the Society's interlibrary loan policies. There is a link from the search page.
