My Great granfather, Reese Roseberry, was a Civil War veteran and was once a Legislator representing Linn County. Reese died in 1924. By M. PRESTON he had Cora (b 1871) who married 1) J. H. SMITH and 2) Mr. CALLINS; and Julia (b 1876), who married Mr. LISTON. By his second wife Gennett N. SPEARS he had Louisa and Henry, birth dates unknown. Henry and Shadrick McGLOTHLIN were children of David and Jemima COREL McGLOTHLIN of Johnson Co., KY. They lived in LaCygne and burried two childern during that time, Bessie and Lina Ann 1887-1888. The childern were buried in Paola, death records show them living in Linn County. Fredrick's father was John, brothers were Phillip, Jacob and Adam. Seeking contact with any descendants. |

Wife Elizabeth HICKS, born 1857, died 1906, also buried Elk Creek Cem. At least one child, William Wilbert, born 1883. Nathan was reported to have gone to Linn County by 1887, but is not on t he 1900 or 1910 Federal census there; he was enumerated in 1920 with his sister, Margaret Cassida. I would like to know his marriage date to Elizabeth; also, was Corry Eugene Beaman his son? I would like to hear from anyone doing the Beaman family from Owen County, IN. |

Ks.. Margurite Days mothers maiden name was Johnston. I have a birth certificate on Golda Baker. That is where I got the information that M. All were born in Indiana, moved to Mo around 1900, later around 1901-2 to Linn County KS. Grandfather Calvin, had a farm there. The address was RFD 1, Biocourt,KS and they also were around Paola, and Pleasanton. My grandmother, Anna Rebecca 'PURDY' OWENS b. 22/12/1881, lived at Trading Post, KS having come from Bates Co. MO. They had 4 sons born in Pleasanton. {In her youth she had the job of sitting out front facing the rock wall of the Post and shooting any snakes that came out of the face of the rock wall.} Calvin & Anna Owens sold the farm the last of 1919, and moved to Washington State , arriving here at the Methodist Church on the eve of 24th Dec 1919. Jesse Owens and wife Pearl Shade,and children were already here, but later moved back to KS. Jesse and Elmer OWENS last known place of residence was KS in 1964, around or in Linn county, according to Sylvia Pearl 'OWENS' CAMERON's funeral record,dated 7/7/1964. In 1919 a advertisement was circulated about a auction for the sale of my grandfathers farm and livestock. It is said by my great uncle Harry PURDY,still alive,b.25/11/1893, 104 years old next week,[ my grandmothers youngest brother], that people came from several states away to purchase his livestock,because of the quality. Katherine G. Sullivan Tue, 25 Nov 1997 02:19:11 Emanuel and Elvira (Welch) HINKLE lived in Linn Co. from c1883-1917. They lived in Oakwood but post office address was Blue Mound. Emanuel was killed 26 September 1898, buried Oakwood Cemetery. I don't know how he died and wonder if there are obituaries available for that time? Elvira died 18 September 1917. They had three daughters: Jessie M. born c1870, she married a STEWART; Daisie E. born c1872; and Ethel G. born c1879. I know nothing more about the daughters. Katherine (North Carolina) |
